Here's something left to me by a relative who passed.
It's a Guitar strap, but totally not an ordinary strap. It's a vintage 1960's era ACE strap, and these ACE straps were used by legends such as Hendrix. Lennon, Clapton, and many others. Do your research and you'll see this is a very rare and desirable strap.
What's rare about this one is that it is about 60 years old but still NEW IN THE ORIGINAL PACKAGE! Go ahead, scour the internet. I could not find a single one NEW IN PACKAGE, although I did find one that was new without package, and that's listed at $400!
Mine hasn't been touched since it was made some 65 odd years ago as the package has never been opened.
They were known as ACE "Hootenanny" straps as that's what the packages called them. The style is #1313 and this referred to the length and width.....these were made in many bright colors and patterns. They are leather backed Jaquard woven fronts with leather ends and a nylon tie cord for one end (like a bootlace).
The originals are made in the USA and were marked in silver leaf (spade?) on the strap ends. These types of straps are still made but not in the USA and with a different silver leaf pattern. There are also reproductions, repops and counterfeits out there.
Mine is absolutely original. The package has never been opened as far as I can tell.
The top paper label stapled onto the bag has been cut - the two corners were cut off as the relative received it as a gift and I'd guess the price was written on the top corners.....so they were snipped off but the package was never completely opened. At any rate, you can see the top is original and the strap inside is a beautiful multicolored weave of red, yellow and green on a royal blue background. I have seen a couple like this referred to as the "Blue Kaleidoscope" pattern and it was seen in guitars used by several famous rock musicians.
Look at images of famous bands and artists online and you can see who used a strap exactly like this one!
That said, I believe this strap is the best you will find in this "Blue Kaleidoscope" pattern.
So if you have a classic vintage Les Paul with a history, or a special vintage guitar used by someone famous and are looking for the perfect vintage strap to accompany it, here it is.
Sure, you can buy a repop at WallyMart for 30 bucks, but that ain't vintage and on a vintage guitar, it ain't proper.
Look online at Reverb, Etsy, Pinterest or Ebay - you'll see what these vintage ACE USA straps are really worth (but you won't find any New in original package (....at least, I couldn't!)
For a guitar strap, It's not cheap, but then, it's not nearly as expensive as most guitars either.
Just $300 cash and it is yours.
Will ship this priority mail CONUS for $10.
Lowballers and pickers, please don't email telling me that it is not worth my asking price, because it definitely is.
If you aren't interested, just move along and look elsewhere.
Thanks.
