I recently resurrected a spare bike I had in storage as a backup to one of my primary riders - I'm looking to part with it, and here are the details:
1985 Honda VF700F
Clean title in my name.
Indicated 29,629 miles (unsure of odometer accuracy)
I originally purchased this bike for parts to support my primary VF750F; it started with some aftermarket items that I took off, and replaced with used OEM parts. The VF700F for sale runs, shifts, handles, and stops well. I recently serviced all of the brake systems, and replaced the steering head bearings. It's seen about 30 miles since I've owned it, and seems like a strong base. It also has a 1995 CBR600F3 rear shock installed, which is a nice upgrade from the original air monoshock (which were noted as a weak point even when new).
It is certainly not a complete turn-key bike yet. There is no formal mount for a license plate, someone in the past cut the turn signal wires to take them off, the steering stops have been modified, choke housing is damaged, etc. To be road legal and trustworthy, it will take some TLC. Cosmetically, all bodywork is present and functional. The fairing is mismatched from a blue 1983 model, and I also could include a blue 1985 version. There is a dent in the left side of the gas tank, and the remaining plastics are pretty faded. All in all, it's a survivor that has many great miles left in it, but might be a long way from a concours restoration candidate. I have several other exhaust options in storage, if something tamer/different from the Supertrapps is preferred.
Overall, I was hoping to get around $2000 for it. I paid slightly north of $2k, but have used quite a few parts from it. I'm not firm on price, and fully understand that it's not complete; my priority is seeing it go to an enthusiast who will use it.
There are several pictures attached; please let me know if this is something you might be interested in! I'm happy to take more photos, or chat about the details any time. I am based in Hudson, WI but could travel with it if needed.
