Ernest Hunt was a noted Navajo/Diné artist known for his sand paintings, which he created on various surfaces including natural rock slabs and particle board. He was considered "the Rainbow Boy" by other Navajo who revered his work. Hunt’s pieces are considered collectible.
Hunt and his family operated a home-turned-studio in Cave Creek, Arizona, where they worked seven days a week, producing sand paintings using naturally colored crushed rocks, baltone, and minerals for different shades.
