Here's a classic old outboard in decent shape - it's a 3.2 hp Champion Kingfisher Special, com0plete with a starter rope, horseshoe gas tank, that vintage look and the nostalgic feel of yesteryear!
I believe it was made in 1940 or 1941?
It ran when it was stored and could run again....it spins freely with good compression, tank is pretty clean, just needs a bit of TLC to get the engine running.
NOTE!! : THE WATER PUMP HOUSING (see the last two pictures) had water in it when it was stored last and as water expands as it freezes, the housing in front of the propeller cracked. This is common on these old outboards but not too hard to weld it back up.
I have a shop and a TIG welder so if your purpose is to get this old girl running again and use her on the water, I can weld up that housing.
If you buy this grand old gal at my asking price, and YOU REMOVE that broken housing and bring it to my shop, I will include welding it up for you so it will work again.
I don't have time to disassemble and reassemble, you'll have to do that, but I'll weld it.
SO THAT'S THE DEAL.
NOTE: There is also one like this on Ebay in Indiana for parts if you'd want to go that route.....that's not mine and is a couple hundred bucks and not complete, but it looks like the water pump housing is good on that one.
Buy it to run, or just leave it looking vintage as it is and hang it on the wall at your lake place.....it's a really nice piece of Americana.
NOTE: These go for several hundred dollars if completely restored and I'm told they are easy to work on and make a fun project, maybe for a father. son/daughter, FFA or 4H project??
......they really can be fun to use on a vintage boat and are real head-turners on the water!
This one is nice and straight, dent free so has blue ribbon capabilities!!
LOOK at the last picture....here's one that is currently for sale on Ebay (not mine) that was totally restored (and priced at $1000!!) - you can achieve this too if you want. As I said, it's a great little project!
I also MIGHT have some decals for the tank and will look for them but no guarantees there - NOS decals and other parts should be available if you search for them.
