Rare (haven’t seen another like it) Asian bronze Champlévé lamp/vase. Very unusual iconography, showing what seems to be a meeting of cultural figures, possibly diplomacy, or even a medical/spiritual consulting; the animal headed figure brings Egypt to mind, but perhaps it is more shamanistic—a Taoist figure? The vase/lamp base seems to date to the 1800’s, but the imagery suggests an earlier influence. Very good condition for age, rewired in modern times (forgot to wipe the off dust before taking photos). 17 1/2” to top plate, not including extended finial; 12” to top of vase; 5 1/2” square base. $250.
