I think this is a really fun antique oil painting, lively and intriguing renaissance theme, though we haven’t figured the country. The more one looks at it the more one sees: the clothing, the royal guards with headgear and weapons, the foreground dog, the architectural elements, the partial statue to the right—and what does the scene depict, a historical occurrence perhaps?: oil on canvas; circa 1890 to 1910; the painting is overall in very good presentable condition for its age; has some professional repairs visible on backside but not front, also has some varnish touchups backside to secure tiny little pinprick areas of missing paint (fairly common and unnoticeable unless the painting is held to the light); needs to further restoration; good quality vintage frame, not as old as the painting; 26” by 31”. $250.
