Lead Operator – Earthwork & Utilities
Kennedy Property Development – Twin Cities, MN
We’re not hiring an operator.
We’re looking for someone to help build a company within a company.
Kennedy Property Development is a new construction, remodeling, and development company based in the Twin Cities. We’re in the process of bringing our excavation, demo, and utility work in-house—primarily to support our own projects.
As we build systems, improve efficiency, and grow, the goal is to expand into third-party work and scale this into its own division.
That’s why we’re not just looking for someone to run equipment—
we’re looking for the right person to grow with it.
Who This Role Is For
This is for someone who:
→ Takes pride in doing things the right way, not the easy way
→ Wants more than just a job—you want ownership and opportunity
→ Has a whatever it takes mindset
→ Doesn’t make excuses—you find solutions
→ Leads by example and sets the standard on-site
If you’re just looking to clock in and out—this isn’t for you.
What You’ll Be Doing
→ Demolition (residential structures, full teardowns)
→ Excavation (footings, basements, additions)
→ Trenching (water, sewer, utilities)
→ Backfill, compaction, and site prep
→ Rough and finish grading
→ Erosion control and site stabilization
→ Reading plans and executing layouts
→ Coordinating with project managers and inspections
You’ll start as the lead operator, with the opportunity to help grow the division over time.
Equipment You’ll Run
→ Excavators (small to large – trenching to full demo)
→ Skid steers & compact track loaders
→ Mini excavators
→ Dozers & loaders
→ Attachments (breakers, augers, etc.)
What We’re Looking For
Minimum:
→ 2+ years operating heavy equipment (5+ preferred)
→ Experience in excavation, trenching, and site work
→ Ability to read plans and understand layouts
→ High attention to detail and quality
Most Important: Culture
We hire based on values first:
→ Treat others the way you want to be treated
→ Communicate directly and honestly
→ Do whatever it takes to get the job done
→ Prioritize getting it right over being right
→ Take ownership and maintain a winning attitude
Growth & Opportunity
→ Performance-based bonuses (profitability, production, efficiency)
→ Opportunity to bring in your own work and earn commission
→ Ability to grow into a leadership role
→ Help build this into a standalone company
If you perform, there is no ceiling here.
