Hey - We are a couple of musicians looking to play with some musicians. We like a range of music, but seem to be centering on jammy funk, soul, rock, trippy country, reggae, indie trance or whatever. We both love Primus, Ween, James Brown, P-Funk, Radiohead, STS9, and the like -- with a soft side for your Neil Young and John Prine and anything else. thinking forming an occasional club band in a Mpls funk, 60s-80s, discorock mashup would be fun and able to gig with other local bands or play random downtown places to unfamiliar audiences - a la Scissor Sisters, Talking Heads, Funkadelic, B-52s, Beegees, and some good old freakout rock. Stuff that's layered and interesting but accessible and groove-based. But again, totally open. I sing and we both write music -- and whatever you bring in that regard would be awesome.
So, if I may be so bold, our main goals: have some fun and make some interesting sounds. Develop something and play out if and when it's happening.
We're looking for bass, keys, and/or percussion to flesh out our primary proficiencies on drums and guitar. Multi-instrumental a plus, but at this point I think we need folks whose primary instrument isn't guitar. We both play both and bass and other stuff -- but he's better at drums and I at geetar. We are both 35-45, by turns hip and dorky, have careers and family, good gear, good ears, and 20+ years playing.
We figure we'll get together every week or so for a while, then play out occasionally. But not a ton - so if this sounds about right please drop a line if you'd like to communicate and/or jam!!
