For those of you who prefer the short version--experienced bassist/musician looking for original mellow-vibe project.
Greetings from Kevin. I play fretless and fretted electric bass.
I'm looking for an alt/indie project that values melody, harmony, rhythm, and thoughtful lyrics. I strongly prefer low-volume approaches--think Tiny Desk Concert or Unplugged as the vibe I'm drawn too.
Too many influences to really list--Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams, Boygenius, Eliza Gylkison, Waxahatchie, Japanese Breakfast, Mitski, Nicole Dollanganger, Alex G, World Party, Decembrists, Mountain Goats, James Taylor, Kathleen Hannah, Gillian Welch, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, the Wrecking Crew, the Funk Brothers, Wilco, Big Thief, Astrid Gilberto, and on and on...
Not really interested in classic rock/blues or strictly covers--but best of luck to all of you!
I play because music is fun, and matters now more than ever. I hope you feel the same way. All I ask is that you are serious about your project, reliably and honestly communicate, and are ready to get together and play (not talking about playing or sending virtual information to each other, but actually getting together in the same room:)
Women, blokes, enby folks, those who believe that restless art and music can combat the current atmosphere of repression --I'm looking forward to hearing from all of you!
I am 67, if demographic information is important to you--I'm also a lot of other things.
Several excellent bass rigs, punctual, no substances (outside of espresso), supportive band mate, etc...
