Job Summary
The Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating saw equipment to cut, trim, and prepare recycled pallet lumber to required specifications. This role supports pallet repair and production by ensuring accurate cuts, maintaining equipment, and following all safety procedures in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operate band saws, trim saws, or radial arm saws to cut pallet lumber to size
Measure and mark wood accurately using tape measures and other tools
Inspect pallet boards and recycled material for quality before and after cutting
Adjust saw settings, guides, and stops to meet specific size requirements
Remove nails, damaged sections, or defects prior to cutting when required
Stack, sort, and organize cut materials for pallet assembly or repair
Assist with pallet building, repair, or general production tasks as needed
Monitor saw performance and identify mechanical issues or defects during operation
Perform basic maintenance, including cleaning, blade changes, and lubrication
Keep work area clean, organized, and free of hazards
Safety Responsibilities
Follow all company safety policies and procedures at all times
Wear required PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, steel-toe boots)
Maintain a clean work area and remove debris throughout the shift
Report any injuries, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately to a supervisor
Never operate equipment believed to be unsafe or malfunctioning
Requirements
Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic math
Ability to lift 50–70 lbs regularly
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, industrial environment
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to stand for extended periods
Previous saw, manufacturing, or pallet experience preferred but not required
Forklift experience is a plus
Skills & Competencies
Knowledge of different saw types and cutting methods
Understanding of pallet grades and lumber types (preferred)
Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting ability
Team-oriented with strong work ethic

Work Environment
Industrial warehouse setting (dust, noise, moving equipment)
Frequent exposure to wood debris and sawdust
Standing, bending, and repetitive movement throughout shift
