If you've been looking for a fun, low-maintenance, head-turning boat that can be towed with an economy car, this beauty is for you!
We are selling our 1959 Crestliner aluminum boat with a 1961 40hp Mercury Kiekhaefer motor. We purchased the boat in 2020 for our family cabin, but as the family has grown and we've gone back to hosting larger groups we decided to move to a pontoon instead. Don't be fooled by the age of this boat and motor - The boat is in very good shape, and the motor runs better than many much newer. The Kiekhaefer motor was developed by Mercury in the 30's and 40's and is the brainchild of Carl Kiekhaefer. Kiekhaefer motors are known for being very powerful and extremely reliable, and this one is no different. This is a two-stroke motor - NO oil changes required other than the occasional lower unit flush. I've never been stranded or struggled to get this motor to start, and the more you run it, the better it goes! We've had five people in this boat at once and had no issue getting it up to speed. I'm confident it could pull a skier if you so desired, but we never tried.
This boat has an electric start with a newer battery and two keys. It also comes with a trailer that received a full tune-up when we purchased the boat in 2020 and is ready to be pulled to lakes all over town. The trailer has working lights and electrical as well. We used to tow it with a Subaru Crosstrek; It's very light and easy to pull.
While we had the boat on a lift last summer, a branch unfortunately came down and cracked the old-school windshield. We still have the windshield, and it could be repaired with some careful craftsmanship and the right epoxy. If you're a true enthusiast, you could definitely send the windshield somewhere to have a mold created and an exact copy produced. We will supply the windshield and let the next steward of this little craft decide what they'd like to do. Pictures of the windshield are included in this listing - We took it off for the summer, but it's easy to re-mount.
Please call or text Gina at the number associated with this listing if you have any questions. The boat is located in western Wisconsin, so your patience is appreciated for getting the boat ready for showings. The boat has up-to-date registration in Wisconsin.
