Frame was designed around a rider roughly 6'1" for the front capitan, and roughly 5'4" for the stoker position.
Beautiful condition, hardly a nic or scratch on it. The paint is original, and speaks for itself.
Frame is hand brazed by the Minneapolis legend, Terry Osell. If you're unfamiliar with his work, he worked as a prominent local frame builder out of Northeast Minneapolis area back in the 70's & 80's. He produced custom made to order, high end road bikes, touring bikes, recumbents, and tandems. His workmanship typically includes use of high end frame tubing, tidy lug work, and classic Imron paint. If you ever met Terry in person, he was a real character. He worked at the same time other local legends in frame build like Kvale, Croll, and Goodrich all were also making high end custom bikes in the Twin Cities.
In terms of frame tubing quality, this Tandem is no exception. Columbus frame tubing is fillet brazed, beautiful rear rack stay details and rear seat stay bridge work. Beautiful bi-plane fork. Shimano XT derailleurs with Shimano bar end shifters. Dual rear brakes, fittings for a drag brake are there, but no drag brake is currently equipped. Like new Gatorskin tires. 48 hole custom wheels with cartridge bearing hubs provide the strength required for a tandem wheelset.
Overall, very clean, ready to ride. Very unique, original and well preserved. Very high quality build. If you're looking to invest in a tandem, and love your home town, this is a great way to represent.
