Fully overhaul, meticulously cleaned, and fully tuned.
New cables, new bar tape new tires. Beautiful Suntour drivetrain is simple and reliable. Very clean, in excellent condition with very little wear. Cool San Marco Laser suede leather saddle.
Frame itself is in excellent condition. A few scratches to the paint mostly from garage rash, but no dents or dings, no rust issues. This is the type of bike that was purchased new in the mid 80s, used a little, then stored for a long time. I purchased it from the original owner and performed the restoration work. It’s my size, and I’m tempted to keep it in a way, but I also have too many bikes already, and it would be best to pass this one along to someone who will use it more than me.
The brand new Panaracer GravelKing tires provide just enough suppleness to take the edge off of nasty Minnesota roads and paths, and enough cushion to power through more compact gravel, like what is found on the Luce line. The 700x30c tires are probably the largest that this frame can take. Tires are light, supple and have fast rolling smooth tread.
Frame has the signature cast lug era Trek details that set these frames ahead of a lot of their competitors at the time, including cool details like the internal chain stay routed rear derailleur cable, and the Trek embossed lugs and dropouts. Frame is a great blend of lightness, stiffness and the signature springiness that only higher end steel frames provide.
Fully tuned, cleaned and %100 ready to ride. Rides as nice as it did the day it was new.
