57cm frame will fit folks around 5'10". Geometry is 57 seat tube and 57 reach.
700x35c tires sitting on alloy rims. Maillard hubs. Wheelset is a fresh handbuilt set with stainless steel spokes. New panaracer 700x35 touring tires look good on this and are like-new condition.
This one has a pretty good backstory. The bike started life as a Ficelle, which was a brand distributed by Island Cycle Supply of Minneapolis back in the late 70's. Many of the components, including the TA Specalties crank & bottom bracket, Stronglight headset, Huret front derailleur, stem, bar and Mavic brake levers are original to the bike.
I've never seen a set of Mavic hoods in this nice of condition, they have never seen the light of day, and are very supple, with zero wear. With clean barrel adjustment hardware.
Where this one starts to get unique is how the frame has been modified. The story goes, that someone working for Walter Croll cycles, decades ago, had this frame. At that time, this bike was modified, and Canti posts were custom welded on, a derailleur hanger was welded onto the already robust rear dropout, top tube cable guides were added, mid blade fork mounting eyelets were added, and a cantilever brake bridge cable stop was added.
Really unique piece that has a great connection to a famous local frame builder.
Leather bar tape, Ideale made in France leather saddle. New cables and housing, Sachs Hurret Rival rear derailleur has powerful springs and is super clean. Atom french made alloy pedals with leather covered toe clips, a Sedis chain, and 6 speed, early 80's vintage Shimano made freewheel round out the components.
It's lightweight, it rides really well. Fully tuned, ready for panniers and bags. Take it touring, or just ride this unique steed around town. A cool piece of history.
