FIRM: Step back in time with this stunning and tall, mid-19th century Seth Thomas American mantle/shelf clock, beautifully preserved and ready for your display.
It features a white, hand-painted Roman numeral dial, visible brass movement, and ornate, reverse-painted (eglomise') lower glass panel depicting a flowers in vase motif, surrounded by radian gold details. It has a twin-train brass movement that strikes on a gong.
Flanked by original turned hardwood and gold gilt-painted columns, this piece is a perfect bland of patriotic symbolism and early American craftsmanship.
Circa: 1830-1870
The original Seth Thomas labeling is still intact behind the movement, see pics.
This clock is in good antique condition, with original glass, wood finish, and mechanism. Some of the gilt has worn off over years of time, from the side columns. It is currently non-working, chimes work, and easy restore for the right individual. Even still, this is an extraordinary clock from the 1800's! String pulls and weights, seem to be in order, and all parts are there, including keys.
This was part of an estate of a 90+ year old gentleman.
