VERY RARE. Offering this glimpse of the past! A vintage, H.C. White Stereoscope from the 1900 Exposition Universelle in Paris. Back in the day, this was used to view stereoscopic photographs (slide cards), creating a 3D effect. Most unique with this offering is not only the stereoscope, but INCLUDING 950, 2-sided, non-modified, original slides in their original boxes! These cards normally you will find just a few in a lot, so this is a rare opportunity to get 950, and at a very low offered price!
The design is distinctive with a metal frame, a metal eyepiece with two glass viewing lenses, and a sliding mechanism for adjusting the image focus for a 3D effect, allowing viewers to experience three-dimensional images from a bygone era.
Cards are in categories:
100-Views of the World
100-Europe
100-Sportmean's Series
100-Siege of Port Arthur
100-Holy Land
250-All the Most Interesting Sights of the World
All are in great condition, with some deterioration on the view card boxes only, slides still looking good. This set has been stored for decades and now ready to depart with it. The stereoscope shows slight wear due to its age, but still works. The glass lenses are still in excellent condition with no scratches, very rare.
The stereoscope is constructed of wood and metal, with a unique, embossed emblem of the manufacturer. These stereoscopes were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Stereoscope: 12"L x 7"W x 3"H
Double View Cards: 7"L x 3.5"H
