Vacation year-round 75 minutes NE of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis/St.Paul) in Polk County, Wisconsin on Big Blake Lake. While you can kick back and truly relax in this tastefully furnished and designed home that has come together after 10+ years of collecting, you'll also encounter all the charms of the rustic cabin life.

Fully equip chef style kitchen, full bath with modern-vintage tub/shower combo, outside shower with a double shower head (May-Oct), year-round usability and comfort with central ac/heat, a beautiful stone fireplace and two private bedrooms with screened in french doors leading out to a wrap around deck that sits over the lake in the tree tops.

This is a lakefront property. Swim, canoe, fish, hike, bring your own boat (there's a ramp on the lake and we have a dock), ice fish, go cross country skiing, downhill skiing, snowshoeing, visit local wineries, the casino and so much more. There is something to do every season of the year indoors and outdoors here no matter the weather!

We have many wonderful local resturants within a 15-30 minute drive in charming towns like ours (Luck), Balsam Lake, Amery, Cumberland, St. Croix Falls, Frederic and Osceola. We are also a conveinant 1.5 hour drive from the Minneapolis/St.Paul Int'l Airport.

Rental of our cabin includes DIRECTV, fiberoptic wireless internet, a stock of DVD's, games, cards, puzzles, children's toys, towels, linens, a coffee maker and grinder, a pretty extensive kitchen set-up with nearly everything you should need to cook and bake, an outdoor propane grill, trash bags, a dish sponge, dish soap, dishwasher detergent and toilet paper.

Vacation sleeping arrangements accommodate ideally four people, with a max. of six people (two private bedrooms w/ queen beds and one pull-out sofa in living room which is best suited for children or one adult).

A dog is welcome with advance permission and a nominal cleaning fee of $50 per dog per stay. Two dogs have been known to be considered with further discussion.

About Polk County:
In Polk County, there is always something great to do -- especially in the great outdoors. Polk County is an all season vacation destination with a natural landscape found nowhere else in the world. The Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway frames their backyard and hiking boots, kayaks, bicycles, paddleboats are your keys to explore this national treasure. They claim the oldest state park in Wisconsin -- Interstate Park. They are also home to one of the newest state parks -- Straight Lake State Park and a new state trail -- Stower Seven Lakes Trail.

Skilled taxidermists can preserve that fish-of-a-lifetime as visual proof for your fishing buddies. Paddleboat tours and railroad excursions are memorable travel alternatives. Spend a few hours on a beach soaking up the warm sunshine, or lace up the hiking boots and discover what's behind the next bend on the trail. Unleash the Lewis and Clark within you, and discover the fun of geocaching. Snowmobiling, Nordic skiing and downhill skiing enthusiasts rave about our trails and facilities. They have seven quality golf courses to make it worth the drive.

Communities in Polk County boast plenty of indoor fun, too! Fueled with a stop at one of our many fine dining and casual eateries, you're ready to power shop at antique, craft and unique gift shops. There's exciting 24-hour gaming at the casino and a chance for a big jackpot. The arts are flourishing in Polk County. The Festival Theatre in St. Croix Falls, the St. Croix ArtBarn, and Northern Lakes Center for the Arts in Amery bring to the stage entertaining and thoughtful plays as well as musical artists throughout the year. They also have a large organization of local artists, EarthArts.

Present-day Polk County owes much to the early Native people who settled there thousands of years ago and, later, settlement by Euro-Americans. The railroads, logging, farming, and resort lifestyle all figure prominently in displays, exhibits and artifacts found at museums and historical sites throughout the county.
