8BR / 2Ba 200ft2 available now
rent period: monthly
Hi, this room for rent ad is written by a current tenant/friend of the homeowner.

If interested in the room, please read this full description, and be sure to follow the instructions/suggestion in the last 3 paragraphs at the bottom. Also, please note that due to the high number of replies to this post, and with me being very busy, I unfortunately cannot reply to everyone, as I seek a new tenant that may be the best fit. As such, if you don't hear from me, I do thank you for your interest, and I wish you the best of luck finding housing.

Single occupancy furnished room, about 200 square feet, available for a move in date of anytime between now and September 1, 2025. Length of lease is usually one year. Rent is $490 per month and includes all utilities (heat, water, electricity, gas, garbage). The homeowner currently voluntarily pays for the wifi (recently nicely upgraded to fiber optic speeds) for all to use. Security deposit is $490.

Tours of this room are only offered, after a bit of online communication, to only those who I think might be a good fit. As such tours are strictly by appointment only, so please definitely do NOT come to the house without an appointment. The house's following address is only given here to show you that the house exists and for if you want to check out the neighborhood on Google maps. The house address is 1301 6th Street SE, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55414 in the Dinkytown neighborhood on the corner of 6th St SE and 13th Ave SE--A 4 MINUTE WALK TO THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA Twin Cities Minneapolis east bank campus. The house is also a 1 minute walk to groceries at a Target express store, post office, various shops/services, and many restaurants and coffee shops. It is a 2 minute walk to the 2, 3, 4, and 6 bus routes. It is also a 15 minute walk to the closest light rail train station.

The room is furnished with, or similar, items in the photos. The room is located on the basement level. It has an egress window, and a smaller window, both facing west northwest. Those windows allow for a fair amount of sunlight, and for a small amount of time in late afternoon—some direct sunlight. For privacy and security, the room's door has a deadbolt lock on it.

The other tenants are both female and male, ages vary. 3 males and 1 female are upstairs, 1 female and 1 male are on the main floor, and 2 females and 1 male are in the basement. Each tenant all have their own rooms. Some are students. Some are professionals. Some are more social, some are more busy. Most importantly all are kind and respectful. Words that describe the current tenants, as well as recent previous tenants: international students from China, Vietnam, Philippines, India, Japan, Korea, graduate student, PhD candidate, Pharmacy student, art student, AmeriCorps intern, Journalism professor, political science, doctor, Special Education, computer graphic design professional, Computer Science, vegetarian, vegan. The house never feels crowded, as tenants tend to have different schedules. Please keep reading if you think you may fit in well here. We are looking for smart, mature students, or professionals, but above all, anyone who is kind and considerate is encouraged to reply.

The homeowner is a fair and reasonable gentleman. He lives nearby. He stops by the house to vacuum the hallways, keep the bathrooms reasonably clean, restock/provide dish soap, bathrooms' sink hand soap, toilet paper, empties common area garbages, mows the lawn, shovels snow, does maintenance work, and home improvement projects. He is super nice, and I consider him a friend.

There is no driveway. Free parking is allowed on the streets surrounding the house. Parking can get crowded, but usually a parking spot can be found nearby either immediately or within a few minutes.

There is a section on the front porch for locking up your bicycle to keep it out of the rain.

Shared by all:
Kitchen: stove/oven, microwave, toaster, rice-maker, dishes, silverware, cups, cookware, kitchen refrigerator, upstairs refrigerator, sink, cupboards, table, an upstairs lockable bathroom (toilet, sink, bath and shower), a downstairs lockable bathroom (toilet, sink, and shower), front and back spring through fall porch, non-coin washer in basement. Please note that there is no dryer for two reasons: 1. There is only room for a washing machine, and 2. Dryers are, in my opinion unnecessary and not very environmentally friendly. So tenants here easily dry their clothes by 3 options: on the clothesline outside, in the basement utility room clothes drying area, or in their rooms on clothes drying racks or lines.

House rules: No vaping or smoking anything anywhere on the property—inside and outside, no parties (small occasional get-togethers are fine), no disturbing other tenants--for example: loud audio (headphones/earbuds are great if you like loud audio), no candles (fire hazard), tenants here very much love animals, but unfortunately no pets allowed of any kind. Tenants must abide by the kitchen rule of cleaning up and washing your own dishes right away after eating. Trusted guests are welcomed. Long time known, very well trusted overnight guests are welcomed only once in a while.

This is a friendly quiet place great for reading, writing, and studying!

Thanks for reading this far. If interested, if you decide to email reply to this, to speed things along, please consider following these instructions/suggestion: Understand that if you are reading this, then the room is still available, since I will remove this ad when the room is taken. So instead of emailing me with the common auto text option of “Is the room still available?” I would encourage you to ask me any other questions that are important to you, but at a minimum, please, right away, share a few things about yourself like what do you do and why do you want to live in the area, then perhaps I may offer to schedule an appointment for a tour of the place, in person, or virtually via Zoom or FaceTime!

Please note: to reply, you must tap on the nearby reply button to email me via Craigslist's email relay service. After some good communication through that, we can choose to reveal our emails or phone numbers.

Once again, just to be clear, tours are by appointment only. Please do NOT come to the house without an appointment. Thanks!
