Are you outgoing, energetic, and like working with children? We are looking for dancers, actors, arts educators, teachers, and yoga instructors who enjoy using theatrics to engage students. If you want to use the arts to empower student's lives then we want to hear from you. We use social dance as a vehicle to teach social and emotional learning skills to 5th graders. Ballroom dance experience not required--all training provided. Applications due by December 7.
Dancing Classrooms is a global in-school arts residency founded in 1994 in NY. ( It has since expanded to more than 30 sites worldwide and been featured in three films (Mad Hot Ballroom, Take the Lead, Dancing in Jaffa). MN nonprofit Heart of Dance ( has reached over 4,100 5th & 8th graders in 126 classrooms and 31 schools in the Twin Cities, Rochester and Duluth, with this nationally recognized 10-week Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum. Dancing Classrooms TAs are: actors, dancers, individuals who can move with rhythm; have excellent interpersonal skills; love kids; able to work in a team; able to receive performance feedback; work in a classroom; have a generous spirit; a sense of humor, of language, of rhythm; willingness to take risks and have fun; maintain a professional demeanor and conduct; excellent communication and organizational skills; individuals who will successfully complete a background check and/or be fingerprinted with the local department of education. Dance experience is not necessary - we hire for personality and train for skills! Audition Wednesday December 12, 2018 with Callbacks on December 19, 2018, Walker Community United Methodist Church, 3104 16th Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55407. Must be able to attend training in the Twin Cities, January 7-11, 9 AM-5 PM. There is a small per diem paid for training. Candidates from Rochester or Duluth will have hotel/meals paid. If hired you must be available for scheduling during school hours, Mon-Fri, 8 AM-4 PM. You may be assigned up to 12 classes per week at a starting pay of $30/hour. School schedules will be finalized after training; residencies run February-April/May. Email resume w/ two references and cover letter to be invited to audition.
