Hello there. I am an active, full-time gigging musician who is looking for a violinist, cellist, or bassist to start performing with at my live events. I play mostly cover songs, but I also write and record original music and perform a number of original songs live as well.

I'm looking to put together a "Ben Folds with a String Quartet Arrangement" type of group, where I play piano and sing, while the strings sections play along with me (playing parts that would normally be guitar solos, etc). Imagine a Top 40 Pop/ Rock/ Country/ Indie band that takes songs from artists like Blink 182, The Killers or Third Eye Blind and transforms them into new, beautiful string quartet versions of the same songs. Taking songs and giving them a fresh sound that people haven't heard before.
I was in a professional cover band for the last 10 years that performed over 100 shows per year, and we had a residency gig at various venues around the Twin Cities. I've performed at Vans Warped Tour, the MN State Fair, been over the Middle East on numerous USO tours to perform for the US Troops at Air Force Bases, etc. I make my income performing music and I am super passionate about it :) I also own and run a recording studio. And we can rehearse for free in my home, in S. Minneapolis near Lake Nokomis. I have an upright piano there and a PA etc.
I'm looking to start rehearsing with this new group ASAP so that we can get out on the town and play some of the shows that I have booked. This is a big profit-making opportunity for you if you are a strings player!
You will need to eventually learn 2-3 hours of music. We will be performing at venues, bars, microbreweries, wedding events etc. All within an hour drive of the Twin Cities. But most gigs will be in the Twin Cities itself. Some shows will be early (5pm-9pm) and some late-night (10pm-1am) depending on the venue.
If you can perform by ear, that's a HUGE plus! I can read sheet music but I prefer to just play by ear. (i.e. I will sing or play you a melody on the piano and have you play it back for me on your instrument, in order to show you the parts you need to play.) I've worked with strings players for many years in previous projects, and I am good at creating arrangements and directing the music. And I'm always open to new ideas if you want to write your own parts, embellish my original idea etc.
Overall, this is just a FUN and CREATIVE opportunity for you to MAKE SOME MONEY!
Shoot me an email or a text/call if you are interested!
