Selling my loved Soundelux/Bock audio U95 (tube condenser). I love this mic just need to part with it to make space for some other gear. This is the tube version of what was later released U95s. Comes with power supply, cables, wood case, and shock mount. Used a lot on vocals, overhead drums, room mics, acoustic guitars. Very versatile mic! This mic is discontinued and harder to find. If you know, you know.
The U95 is purported to be sonically somewhere between a U47 and a U67. The U95 was a multipattern tube condenser microphone, designed by David Bock and sold by Soundelux. It was Soundelux’ flagship tube condenser in 1998.
The mic had 9 polar patterns, switchable via the external tube power supply (which was a dual-voltage design).
The capsule in the U95 was made by 797 Audio in China; it was a dual-membrane, large-diaphragm design made with a gold-coated Mylar membrane measuring 6 microns in thickness. A single-diaphragm version of this capsule can be found in the U195 (which was a cardioid-only microphone).
The U95 amplifier circuit used an 6072A dual-triode tube.
