A USA-designed synth (same team that produced the wonderful Andromeda!), but made in Taiwan A MONSTER for its sounds and ability to put together a head-spinning array of sound combinations and looped rhythms, phrases and LFO variations with individual tones. If interested, text six one two three two four four two zero one or email. You can’t truly emulate the sound of this synth in ANY software! Want an analogue synth at the heart of your setup but can’t afford a Mini Moog or an Arp? This is it!
The most difficult aspect to this design-is how deceptive it is. Looks like a simple little 37-key keyboard, but It is deep and can create some remarkably complex sounds and patterns. Its audio quality is fairly pristine, but the sounds can be anything but that. The drum samples are fairly limited to purely analogue type sounds, not PCM or samples-more like the old style analogue drums that could be created using white/pink noise and drum attack style envelopes. Very effective though, when used in combination with basslines (excellent) phrases and live solo leads, manage to sound very complementary to the Micron's HUGE database of sounds.
Though it's digital, the Alesis Micron has the heart of an analogue synthesizer, and is made to emulate the voicing of an analogue synth. THREE oscillators (like a Memorymoog), with eight voices per oscillator, along with two filters, three envelope generators, two LFOs, and more give you tons of programmability and potential to shape your sound in an impressively compact 37-key synth. Taking cues from the Alesis Ion, the Micron gives you portability along with powerful analogue modeling. .....its NOT big!....just sounds it......
