Looking for a responsible, experienced owner/mechanic to help with my recently inherited 2000 Corvette.
After considering the options for getting the Vette to Texas during the winter, I decided that the ideal choice would simply involve me driving the car myself from Minnesota to Texas. Although I have barely driven a sports car like this (and only in summer), i believe it will be doable. Its more practical than hiring someone from Minnesota to drive all of the way to Texas, because anyone from Minnesota will obviously have a need to pay for a return trip, the costs of which would be more expensive than simply hiring a trucking company to ship the vehicle.
In order to drive the vehicle myself, though, I will need some help. I need someone familiar with this type of vehicle to take a look at the tires, the engine, testing the electrical, etc, and provide me with recommendations for making the vehicle ready for a long winter drive. Ideally, it would involve someone experienced with Corvettes both from a mechanical, and, from a driver's perspective. This could involve riding along for part of the drive; that might be useful, assuming both of us would be comfortable doing so.
I would need for the "inspection" to happen on January 18th or 19th.
After posting the gig on CL, I also discussed with a family member. He may be able to drive the Corvette for me, but this would only be later in the season (Spring). My preference is still for next month (January), but if the weather or something with the vehicle would makes this impossible, I may need to delay and have the vehicle driven back in the Spring.
If you are experienced with the mechanics and/or the operation of similar vehicles (Corvettes) and would like to help me with these items, please let me know. Include your 'qualifications', even if informal ones, like ownership of Corvette(s), your experience driving similar vehicles (such as a rear wheel drive sports car).

* Comfortable with long-distance driving
* Experience with Corvettes or older sports cars strongly preferred
* Winter driving experience required
