This was my grandmother's trivet. I think it originally was painted as there are a couple tiny flecks of paint here and there on the front if you look closely. There are a couple of thin streaks of shellac on the back, which probably was an original topcoat. Great, sturdy/heavy, and usable trivet! Cast iron, weighing about one pound. Vintage. Please see all photos.
