SUMMARY

The Certified Peer Specialist, works as part of the Intensive Residential Trement Service team, which provides care and trement for persons who are experiencing significant mental health/psychiric symptoms, who are demonstring significant functional impairments, and who may have co-occurring substance use disorders. Certified Peer Support Specialists are fully integred team members who provide individualized and group services in the residence and the community and promote person served self-determinion and decision making. Certified Peer Support Specialists also provide essential expertise and consultion to the entire team to promote a culture in which each person’s point of view and preferences are recognized, understood, respected, and integred into trement, rehabilition, and community self-help activities. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to sisfactorily perform each essential function listed below.

• Willingness to provide peer-recovery educion.
• Assist peers with assessing their unique strengths and abilities.
• Help peers with identifying, developing, and working towards recovery goals.
• Assist peers with developing self-advocacy skills.
• Help peers identify and access approprie professional resources.
• Provide educion for team members regarding the recovery process.
• Assist in implementing and the development of individual trement plans.
• Participes in care coordinion meetings as needed.
• Serves as a link to community resources, teaches and models client self-advocacy and acts as a community liaison/educor.
• Reports significant/major incidents or accidents.
• Medicion administrion and documention.
• Adheres to da privacy practices/HIPAA.
• Assists in discharge planning.
• Demonstres professional competency in the documention of trement services.
• Provides objective verbal and written critical incident analysis.
• Documents essential activities reled to licensure, welfare, and safety.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Knowledge and Skills required for the Job

The requirements listed below are representive of the knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required to perform the job.

Educion and Experience: 

• A GED or high school diploma is required.
• Associe of Arts degree in one of the Behavioral Sciences or Human Services preferred.

Certifices, Licenses, and Registrions:

• Must be least 21 years old.
• Have a valid Driver’s License and car insurance.
• Successful completion of the MN Department of Human Services approved Certified Peer Support Specialist training and certificion exam.

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Have or had a primary diagnosis of mental illness.
• Be a current or former consumer of mental health services and/or experience in the field while maintaining professional boundaries.
• Demonstre dedicion to promoting recovery opportunities in the lives of peers.
• Demonstre ability to utilize own lived experience of recovery to inspire recovery in the lives of peers.
• Ability to communice (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the agency.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and multitask.
• Proficiency with using company technology.
• Must meet all agency requirements for pre-employment as required by SpringPh and/or MN Ste regulions.

Other Requirements:

• Travel as needed.

Physical Requirements:

• Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
