Well it is finally time to sell my trusty 2001 Chevy Trailblazer, $1,500. It isn't perfect but it has been a fantastic vehicle for me over the years! I have used this as a wood hauler, camper van, daily driver, errand runner, road trip partner (especially BWCA trips), and just about everything in between. It has the bulletproof 4.2 motor that is still going strong, has the capability to haul some crazy heavy trailer loads, is small enough to get in spaces other larger vehicles cannot, and has 4wd with the turn of a dial. I am an honest guy and will tell you the good, bad, and ugly about this vehicle:
The good:
- Starts right up and runs like a top
- Chevy's 4.2 motor is known to run for a crazy long time and is still strong
- Body is in relatively good shape for it's ago, aside from a rusting spot in the rear fender above the wheel well.
- I have kept up regular oil changes every 3k miles
- Kept it nice and clean over the years
- Even has a cassette deck and CD player! Harder to find these days...
- Seats fold flat so you can haul a ton of stuff back there or even use as a camping sleeper van type thing
The bad:
- Cracked windshield (not a big deal to me, has been there for years)
- Check engine light has been on for many years. It is just something weird in the Evap system, had it looked at and nothing worth fixing
- Probably needs wheel bearings replaced and tires. Again, I have been driving it like this for years but if a person was considering buying it, just being transparent.
- Has a moon roof, but it was leaking so I put silicone around the seal so currently unusable. A person could probably fix this though.
The ugly:
- Has a pretty solid power steering fluid leak. I think a guy would have to replace the lines but that is just beyond what I can do myself, and I can't justify having a shop do that.
Overall, this vehicle would be great for someone who can fix these things and I bet it would run for a lot longer! Or perhaps a new driver who doesn't mind doing some maintenance on it. It is an older vehicle now but still runs great, hoping somebody can make it last for a lot longer! It has treated me very well over the years. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions, thanks for considering.
