The kayak is 15.5 feet long and 24 inches wide, with a 32”x17” keyhole-style cockpit. It is made from thermoformed ABS for light weight and durability. It has a 360 lb capacity while weighing only 49 lbs.
Delta makes a quality boat and this model is well thought out and well put together. The 15.5 GT is highly versatile: it’s fast and comfortable and had good stability to handle rougher conditions. There is a rudder to help steer in windy conditions; it flips up/down with controls on the left of the cockpit and turns via the foot braces. There is cockpit coaming for a spray skirt. This boat is great for quick trips or multi-day expeditions.
The storage is cavernous—it is amazing how much you can put in this boat. There is a day hatch just in front of the cockpit for things you want readily accessible like sunscreen, water, or phone. Front and back hatches can easily hold a tent, sleeping bags, and cooking gear. Hatches are the same plastic material as the deck with a rubber “press lock” seal to help keep water out. All seals are in good shape and close tightly.
Seat and foot braces are very adjustable and adjustments can be done on the water. The seat has five positions to slide forward and back (about 4” of adjustment) and the back pad has five height positions. Seat back can be reclined or pulled upright via a pull cord. Foot braces slide forward and aft with a solid locking mechanism. This boat should fit anyone from 5’6” up to 6’4”.
