This antique large hand-carved wood cherub putti/putto dates back to the late 18th century in Italy. The intricate carvings on this piece depict 2 angelic figures, making it a unique and charming decorative collectible for any room. This piece is heavy and measures approximately 29 inches long, 13 inches tall, and approximately 5 inches “thick”. There are plenty of remnants of the bright original paint.
There are a couple of cracks which do nit go through and have been there for many years. See photos, please.
The 2 notches in back were used for hanging, likely in a church or very opulent home. This piece is rare and stunning.
