Photos came out dark, painting is lighter. Not a Hudson River School per se, as it was painted sometime in the 20th century. The American artist who painted it, E. A. Gorham of Westport Conn., drew upon a 1600’s painting by Claude Lorraine (see photo), changing it a good deal, including adopting the Romantic look of the Hudson River style, to suit his social commentary of racial and class inequality.
