Artistic unsigned piece believed to be by the late George Jamison of Sandstone, MN. The original tag (still attached) names the piece “Chicken” by Jamison.
Created from a single tree limb, the fork veers to create the head in one direction and the tail in the other. Jamison’s artistic knife skills brings Chicken to life! His light touch creates delicate ruffle feathers around the head and neck, and dancing ribbon curls define the tail. Long whittling strokes define the legs while pointy spurs mean business!
Jamison utilizes the tree limb’s slant giving Chicken a quizzical look as chickens do when something takes their attention. Details and expressiveness seem effortless through Jamison’s artistic vision and knife skills. Truly a delightful piece to bring smiles and appreciation of whittling and hand carving.
Chicken stands 16-1/2” tall from foot to top of the comb and 6-1/2” from the widest part of the curly feather tail to the chest.
