We practice a number of systems, all from a practical self-defense perspective.
We use the word 'Lab' because we are part of a global network of Self-Defense groups called DefenceLab. What that means is we don't just get together to do mindless drills over and over, though we do plenty of drills. Rather, we investigate sequences, and techniques, and test them. We tear things apart, examine each part, and put it back together in a way that works for each of us individually, allowing you to acquire the best self-defense techniques and skills that work best for you.
At our core we are all about DNA Fight Science (the official system of DefenceLab) and Judo. DNA is a system that starts with self-protection (or frames), and shows you how to escape or overcome an attacker while maximizing self-protection. Judo works extremely well with this system, and the two together form our main saturday class.
We are also influenced by, and practice, BJJ, Combatives, Boxing, JKD, Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Wrestling, etc. Whatever skills and talents each of us has we share.
So if you want to learn the most effective self-defense in the most efficient way possible, join us this coming Saturday at 1pm at Lyndale Farmstead Park, 3800 Bryant Ave. S.
