pencil cactus description
The Pencil Cactus (Euphorbia tirucalli), also known as the Firestick Plant, is a unique succulent characterized by its slender, pencil-like stems and minimal leaves
.
Here's a more detailed description:
Stems:
• The most distinguishing feature of the Pencil Cactus is its numerous, cylindrical stems that grow vertically.
• These stems are typically green, but can develop reddish or purplish hues, especially when exposed to sunlight.
• They are smooth and can reach significant heights, resembling a cluster of upright pencils or coral.
Leaves:
• The Pencil Cactus lacks prominent leaves. Instead, it has small, oval-shaped leaves that appear briefly at the tips of new growth.
• These leaves are short-lived and often fall off quickly, giving the plant a mostly leafless appearance.
Flowers:
• The Pencil Cactus produces small, inconspicuous yellow flowers that appear in clusters at the branch tips during the late spring and early summer.
