The Advent Corporation was co-founded by Henry Kloss in 1968, and the Advent OLA speaker was produced from 1969 – 1977. This pair appears to be made on April 1975 based on the stamp next to the tweeter. At the time these speakers were critically acclaimed to be on par with speakers 3-4 times their cost. Advent produced a utility style OLA speaker which was cheaper with a square front face and wrapped in vinyl. This pair is the more expensive OLA version with a walnut veneer cabinet and beveled face.
These Advents are in great condition and sound excellent. The walnut veneer cabinets were just restored and are in good condition with normal signs of wear based on their age. The grille covers are new purchased from Midwest Speaker and attach to the speaker with Velcro fasteners. The 10-inch woofer was recently re-foamed and the famous orange “fried egg” tweeter is in fine condition as well. On the back of the speaker is a toggle switch which can be set at normal, increase, and decrease settings of the tweeter
