--- GREAT BIKE TO SIT UPRIGHT AND LOOK AROUND WHILE RIDING ---
After reviewing the Schwinn Voyageur again this year (compared to last years model) I realized once again what a nice hybrid/comfort bike this is and I have no problem keeping this as our Best Buy bike in this category once again this year.
--- WORKS AS IT SHOULD WITH GOOD TIRES, ---
Schwinn calls this bike a "Bike Path" bike, which I would consider either a hybrid or a comfort bike. This bike can handle touring and distance rides, comfortably, as well as paved, crushed stone, grass or dirt bike trails.
--- SHIFTS AND BRAKES AS IT IS SUPPOSE TO --- $550 WHEN NEW, PROBABLY 10 YEARS AGO ---
The Schwinn Voyageur has a nicely padded seat, front and rear suspension (shock absorber, in the seat post) ergonomic handlebar grips with grip shifters (not levers), high quality components and a comfortable frame design.
You can find some slightly cheaper brands of comfort bikes (at Wal-Mart for example) but you will usually "get what you pay for" and will not be able to find the same quality as you will get with the Voyageur for the same (or slightly higher) price.
Hybrid and comfort bikes, including the Schwinn Voyageur are an excellent choice for casual and comfortable bike rides as well as an occasional longer distance (bike path or touring) ride.

I have found the Schwinn Voyageur to be the highest quality hybrid / comfort bike available in the under $400 price range.
I use the term hybrid and comfort interchangeably for this bike since it fits both categories pretty well. It can handle roads or moderate bike trails and the bike is definitely comfortable.
I especially like the heavily padded seat, the chain guards, the very comfortable frame design, front suspension, rear seat shock absorber and even the sleek look of this bike.
