1999 MXZ X factory race sled. 440cc liquid cooled engine. Very first year of the ZX chassis.
I've owned this for about 4 years now. Upgraded this year to a newer REV-model Skidoo that is not premix and has reverse.
Very responsive on the trails and quick off the line as you'd expect from a race sled. Track is in good condition, and overall the sled is in great condition for a 1999. 2 previously-repaired tears in the seat which were repairs with some rubber (looks like - not done by me). Comes with a generic cover and a quart of the OEM coolant.
Bought it with a little under 6000 miles on it, has 6250 on it now. Cannot confirm if/when the engine was rebuilt last, but top-end looks to have been refreshed at some point in its life. Either way, compression is still good and it pulls strong.
Current issues:
-Snowflap does have 2 gouges out of it from the track, but comes with a replacement.
-Crack in the windshield. Very common on these models.
-Headlight trim is cracked. Also very common on these. I also have a replacement one that can go with, but it is also cracked and is black in color rather than the fake carbon fiber.
Made 2 sets of repairs/maintenance during my ownership time:
*Winter of 2020/2021: Right side trailing arm, shock, ball joint block, control arm/tie rod replaced.
*Winter of 2024/2025: New belt, new fuel pump, new fuel lines, new primer, new plugs, new muffler mounts. While it was apart I had the carbs taken apart and cleaned, RAVE cleaned, etc.
$1800 firm. Reasonable offers in that range can be entertained, but lowballs will be ignored. If it doesn't sell I will just keep it and let friends ride it next year - am not in a dire need to sell, I'd just like some space back in the garage.
Emails only - please include your name and phone# or the email will be ignored.
Located in the Princeton, MN area. Could deliver for a fee.
To answer some common questions:
-No, it does not have the piggyback shocks on the front and no I do not have them. If it did have them originally, they were replaced by a previous owner.
-No, I have never had the front or rear shocks rebuilt, and do not know if the previous owner ever did.
-Yes, I still have the old shock and trailing arm that was damaged that I replaced
-The map bag was installed by me (it's clearly not OEM, so not sure why people ask)
-Yes, the handwarmers work
-Gas cap is a Dennis Kirk replacement
-No idea how it has been stored its whole life (indoor vs outdoor). Previous owner to me kept it in a heated garage. For 2 years I kept it in the garage, and for 2 years I stored it outdoors on the trailer under a cover.
**Any questions regarding the common items that are specific to the MXZ-X models (headlight switch not in normal spot, lack of oil injection, etc) will get you ignored. If you aren't familiar with this model/chassis, do your homework before asking anything. The pictures will answer any questions to those ends.**
