About us: We are a small, family owned, full-service car dealership in Ham Lake, MN with 10 years of good business and a great reputation for honesty and for making our customers feel comfortable doing business with us. We offer sales and service and can take on just about any type of automotive work. We pride ourselves on being honest and transparent. We typically sell 15-20 vehicles per month. Sales staff in the past have earned $40K-$75K annually. Income does vary and is largely based on your performance and how self-motivated you are.
About the car business: The car business is tough, has many things that are frustrating and can bring you down, including dealing with the public, long hours of down time, and mechanical issues; so one needs the ability to not become easily flustered and not let things get them down. Positivity is what drives successful car dealerships. Winters are slower, and the warmer months busier in this business, but we are rather consistent relative to many other dealerships because we are well established and have many repeat customers.
About this position: The hours for this position are generally 10 am to 7 pm, Monday – Saturday with Tuesday or Wednesday as a day off. Saturdays are mandatory for this position for now, but every other or every third Saturday off could be an option in the future. Experience as a car salesperson is not required, but basic car knowledge is necessary. We are very laid back, and you will not be micromanaged; however, you will be expected to be self-motivated and after your basic training period, you will be expected to sell a reasonable amount of cars and keep up with your daily tasks, which include running Ads, keeping up on and modification of Ads, moving cars and organizing the lot, making an occasional vehicle run to and from auto body or detail shops as well as other general tasks like keeping your space neat and orderly, staying on top of follow up with past and present customers, etc.
We are looking for someone who can get the details right every time. The salesperson is responsible for creating the bill of sale, title application, 21-day permit and finance paperwork. It is imperative that the paperwork be filled out correctly to avoid title issues. Ideally the candidate will have experience with Frazer, DealerTrack, 700Credit and other auto dealer software systems. The ideal candidate will be a hard charger, motivated, one who welcomes Monday mornings. Honesty and integrity are strongly desired character traits.
