We use OEM parts for all critical engine components, which maximizes longevity. AFM/DFM deletes include ECM software reprogramming.
Background:
In 2005, GM introduced AFM/DoD technology into some of their V8 engines, in which 4 cylinders could be shut down when the power of a V8 was not needed. While saving a little fuel, this design increased complexity and proved to be unreliable. Furthermore, it is very expensive to fix when it breaks. These engines can be retrofitted to remove this feature, greatly increasing the future reliability of these engines.
This technology is called AFM (Active Fuel Management), DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management), and originally DoD (Displacement on Demand).
Engines affected: 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L, and the 4.3L V6
The pricing for AFM/DFM Deletes starts at $4,000 and varies by model. Pricing depends on how much you want replaced in the process of doing the repair. Repairs include an OEM non-AFM camshaft, all new OEM valve lifters (16) and guides/trays, OEM VVT solenoid, valley cover/block-off plugs, gaskets and seals, certain other parts, and ECM reprogramming. It is important to note that these engines (especially Gen IV - 2005-2013) suffer from oil pressure losses, which is often what causes lifter failure. These oil pressure losses must be corrected during the repair.
If you need other repairs, such as lifter release, fuel injectors, oil pump, timing chain tensioner, broken exhaust manifold bolt extraction, etc., contact us for a quote.
