Get a quality replacement engine (or repair yours) for less!
Your engine may be repairable even when a shop says "you need a new engine" (and quotes $10,000 for it). We specialize in GM 3.6L / 3.0L engine repairs. We are a small independent shop and are able to maximize quality while minimizing cost.
The following models have the GM 3.6L/3.0L High Feature V6 (HFV6) engines that commonly need timing chain replacement, connecting rod bearing replacement, or, if run too low on oil for too long, need engine replacement: Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, Chevrolet Chevy Traverse, Saturn Outlook, GMC Terrain, Chevy Equinox, Cadillac SRX.
These GM engines had design flaws that cause oil burning (and thus, low oil levels) and result in timing chain failures and connecting rod bearing failures.
All engines we install or fix have the necessary updates performed to prevent this problem in the future.
Common model years needing repair: 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.
These engines are also used in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017 models.
Variants of this engine are also used in: Cadillac CTS, XTS, ATS, STS, Buick LaCrosse, Chevy Impala, Camaro, as well as others.
Engine replacement:
If you have a GM 3.6L/3.0L engine that is not fixable and needs engine replacement, we can install a newer updated 2013-2017 engine into your vehicle with all critical timing components replaced (OEM) for around $5,500-6,000 (including labor) in most cases.
Engine repair:
● If your engine is repairable, the cost varies based on what the engine needs, what you want replaced as preventive maintenance, and what else you decide to replace in the process such as loose suspension parts. If it has 120K miles, for example, you can get by with less parts replaced than if it has 160K miles. For the GM 3.6L/3.0L's, you're not going to get a good engine repair using quality parts for less than $3,300 (timing chain service).
● We use OEM parts for all critical components (i.e. timing chain system, electrical, etc.). If you skimp on parts quality, it is likely to cost you big-time in the long run.
● When we do engine repair on these GM 3.6L/3.0L's, we perform the updates to fix the oil burning problem. That is largely the cause of GM timing chain failures in the first place.
● If repairing your engine, it is advisable to replace the connecting rod bearings even if the engine does not have a knocking noise. These are a common failure item, and this can be performed as a $500-600 add-on to your timing chain service.
