Water pump and timing chain replacement
We are a small independent shop and are able to maximize quality while minimizing cost.The following models have the Ford 3.5L/3.7L Duratec / Cyclone / Ecoboost engines that commonly need water pump and timing chain replacement:
Ford: Flex, Explorer, Edge, Taurus, Fusion, Transit, Mustang, F-150, Expedition
Lincoln: Navigator, MKT, MKX, MKS, MKZ, Nautilus, Continental
Mercury: Montego, Milan
Most of these Ford engines have an internal water pump that typically lasts 100K-150K miles, and necessitates timing chain removal in order to access it. Thus, the water pump and critical timing chain components are typically replaced together. It is important to note that water pump failures in these engines can leak engine coolant into the oil crankcase. If the engine has been driven with a considerable amount of coolant contamination in the oil, the bearings may have worn excessively, and in such cases, engine replacement is recommended.
Common model years needing repair: 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020.
Engine repair:
● The cost varies based on what parts the engine needs, what you want replaced as preventive maintenance, and what other components are found in the process that are needing replacement such as engine mounts, etc. For a typical water pump and timing chain job, pricing starts at around $2,500. It varies depending on the model.
● We use Ford/Motorcraft OEM parts for all critical components (i.e. timing chain system, electrical, etc.). If you skimp on parts quality, it is likely to cost you big-time in the long run.
Engine replacement:
If you need engine replacement, contact us for a quote. It will probably be in the range of $5,000-7,000 total cost, depending on the model and mileage. The replacement engine would include new Ford/Motorcraft timing components and a water pump.
