Here we have the mother of all Onkyo preamps, the “Holy Grail” and flagship model from Onkyo, the P-388f. If familiar with Onkyo preamps, you know this one never seems to be available, as those that own it— keep it! Sadly, medical debts require I sell the unit. Mint condition, with only 1 minuscule mark on top, too small to really photograph, but disclosed nonetheless. Rest of unit is flawless! Used for only 3 months prior to entering service in ‘93, and stored in dry temp controlled storage since. Tested, operates as NEW, because it is essentially NEW! Comes with owner’s manual, HTF original remote in NEW condition, and original factory sides, (Custom oak sides installed) along with original box! Dual mono construction, machined gold RCA inputs, motorized volume control, balanced inputs/outputs— the list goes on. Long story short, it’s an awesome piece of audiophile history! Custom handcrafted solid oak sides installed, and did I mention 120-220 switchable voltage, adding to its usability & value. Most probably know about this legendary piece, but if not, read up on the accolades through The Vintage Knob, Audio Database, and so on ! If interested, I also have the matching amp, the last hi-end audiophile amp made by Onkyo, the M-588f… also, with matching handcrafted side panels of solid oak, factory side panels, AND original box. The 588 puts out a conservatively rated 200 WPC into 8 ohms, and is another difficult to find item, only appearing for sale, once in a great while! Together, these two pieces put out some remarkably detailed and silky sweet audio! Be advised, as these items are very very rare, and highly sought after, I am pretty firm on my asking price.
