This named grouping has seven original WWII U.S. Army Air Corp officer's uniform pieces, with original ribbons, patches and pins. They are from Capt. Clarence J. Hein. who served in the fourth Fighter Group. This group was known as the American Eagles because early in the war they flew Spitfires. As American planes became available, they moved into P-47's and later P-51 Mustangs. One of the great Aces, Don Gentile, was part of this group. This grouping has both his enlisted and officers uniforms. It is believed he was promoted while serving in Europe. Capt. Hein was the recipient of the American Defense Service Medal and the European Campaign Medal.
