Up for sale is a unique Victorian era child's high chair, which is a combination chair that changes to a rocker with a pull of a lever in the back. The chair is made of oak with an engraved patterned back, spindled sides, and cane seat. When used as a high chair it measures 40" tall, when changed to a rocking chair it is 26" tall. The chair is 17" across and 28" deep when the rockers are extended.
This Victorian piece is offered in "as is" condition. While there is no damage to the item, the wood has a bit of wear at the very top corners, at the edges where it has been handled over the years. The seat, which may have originally been leather (uncertain), is believed to have been replaced at some point as there are extra holes that do not fit the cane. The cane seat is in very good condition.
The tray is questionable as to its originality to the chair. It is believed it may have been added at a later time, to replace a possibly smaller, original tray that fit onto the arms. This is an assumption based on the wood appearing to be a bit later in age.
Overall, the chair is in good to excellent condition, and despite the slight changes it remains a unique piece. Antique Victorian combination chairs are not seen that often these days, and this example would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
