Looking for a causal, fun atmosphere? This is the place! Fair warning: next summer, expect to see the owner of our company barefoot. We're a small company where excellence in work is expected, but laughter abounds.

The primary responsibilities of the proofreader are to ensure factual accuracy, correct spelling and clarity of meaning. Perfect grammar is a noble goal, but not the ultimate purpose - we work with many different writers with varying styles and take a functional approach to editing. A successful candidate must have the ability to wield a virtual red pencil as well as the ability to use it judiciously. A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat is essential. Experience with medical terminology is a plus.

The available position includes a 3 day per week core schedule, approximately 22 hours per week, with some variance to meet business needs. All work is currently done in our office, but we're moving to a paperless work flow so that telecommuting will be an option in the foreseeable future.

If you believe that semi-colon usage should be an earned privilege and don't mind a shoes-optional atmosphere, please e-mail a resume and cover letter to the address listed above.
Publication History

The Wake was started in spring 2002 by two University of Minnesota Twin Cities undergraduate students, Chris Ruen and James Delong. The two undergrads wanted to created a student-run newspaper that creates discussion, awareness of campus and local issues, excitement and a sense of community on the Twin Cities Campus.

Our Mission Statement

The Wake strives to be a voice for students as well as a source of information on the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities Campus. By providing a forum for the reporting, opinions, and creativity of students for students, we hope to foster diversity in discussion and to strengthen the sense of a campus community.
