I've figured out why regular folks become republicans- it's called the Stockholm syndrome! They are trying to suck up to the filthy rich in hopes that they'll get some scraps. Why else would regular people be defending the rapacious greed of the rich knowing that they will never get any of the perks that the rich buy congressmen for.
