Influence is primarily classic rock, with some modern rock/alternative tossed in for fun.

A couple items to note:
* If you�re not sure about being in a band, take some time to think about it. Practicing and learning new songs is fun, but also hard work. You HAVE to want it.
* If you need gig money to pay your mortgage, this band probably isn�t for you.
*If you�re so busy with family and job commitments, practice can only be scheduled every fifth Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00, but not during a full moon�same thing.

We are a great band, based in Saint Paul, looking for that special someone who really knows a good thing when they hear it, but also knows how to take it to the next level. Our style is very political hip-hop/jazz/indie, so we need someone who is down with underground political movements and knows the history of hip-hop, jazz, and follows the new trends blending those styles. We take all of that and add it to drum n' bass, trip-hop, funk, and free improvisation. We are too jazzy for most of the hip-hop world, and too hip-hop for the jazz world; too political for the jam world, and to interesting for radio. In other words, we don't fit neatly into any mold or already established style. We consider that our best asset! We can play for anyone who digs genuinely good music with a message of global unity in fighting against tyranny and oppression.

There are people who want to get us to Europe, to New York, the Coast, etc. What we need is someone who wants to put the time and energy into us to help us say yes to those offers. It is getting too difficult for us to do all the booking ourselves while also producing records, writing new music, etc.

We are open to many different kinds of arrangements for compensation, but we clearly do not have a big budget. That said, you will be working with a VERY serious band with world class music and a work ethic not to be messed with. We are a band with our own house, a potential label in the works, and some other surprises along the way. Age, gender, background, are all irrelevant as long as you can bring with you the connections, work ethic and progressive attitude necessary to be a part of the movement we are building.

Music is my religion. The first memory I have is listening to my favorite song. A good song sounds like nothing you've ever heard before. Some of the best musicians are the ones making music for themselves and their friends, without expensive equipment, only a love of sound. The word Punk in music means freedom, it means more than loud guitars and shouted vaguely political vocals. Some of the punkest motherfuckers of all time played acoustic instruments. A good band is more like a home to its musicians, a place of belonging, a place for each member to expand and explore the sound. Some of the greatest bands in history could barely play their instruments. Music is about more than just picking a genre and walling yourself in. Music didn't start with rock n roll and it didn't end with hip hop. A good band cannot describe themselves with one word. Lyrics are the poetry of our generation. All sound is an artistic medium to be experimented with.

Singer looking to start a pop oriented 80's metal band (Rosemount)

Hi there,

I've wanted to start a band for a while but unfortunately it's difficult to find younger guys that want to be in a 80's rock cover band! Hey, just think about how huge this type of band would be at local venues!

I'm just looking for other musicians that share my passion for select 80's hair metal and rock music. Bands that I like and may be interested in covering are Winger, Europe, Steelheart, Van Halen, Autograph, Honeymoon Suite, etc. So if you don't like these types of bands, please don't contact me. Also, I'm not looking to join a variety band with 45 year old guys that does everything from Skynyrd to Def Leppard. 80% of a bands success comes from successful image marketing, and variety bands lose that "cool factor" completely.

But yeah, let me know if you're interested! I'm especially picky about guitar players, so don't contact me if you aren't familiar with at least some "hot" 80's style soloing techniques. Even just some nice melodic soloing techniques with some distortion would be OK too. You don't have to be Eddie Van Halen or anything though. I'm willing to travel a fairly long distance to practice, but not 100 miles or anything!

So I did post an ad earlier this summer looking for some bandmates and I hooked up with an awesome lead guitarst, Tim, but I kinda fell off the face of the planet because I ended up touring out of the state with a show (I design lights for a living) and left a lot of people who replied hanging...I think I hit most of you back up but feel free to hit me up if I somehow missed you.

On that note, a new band is looking for a bassist (preferably with backup vocals), a keyboardist, and a drummer for an alt rock band:

Radiohead, Decemberists, Foo Fighters, Stone Temple Pilots, Chili Peppers, etc

Must be 21+ (bars we play at require this, we don't really care)
Must have own equipment and transportation. No I won't let you use my amp, no I won't pick you up (unless your car explodes or something then I'll feel bad for you=) )
Must be committed to a group, rehearsals, gigs etc keeping in mind that we do have day jobs and relationships outside of music. Maybe twice a week rehearse and shows Fri and Sat night.
Must not be a douche bag. We're nice people, we want to play with nice people. Tim and I believe in collaboration and want this to be a group creative project.

Professional musician wanted.

In search of replacement musician for a very active regional band currently undergoing a personnel change.

Musical style is high-energy country-rock. Mostly covers with room for original material in the future. Song list will be a blend of Underground/Texas Country, Traditional Country "kicked-up" a notch, some Country Radio Hits, some Alt-Country and a dash of Blues and Rock.

We'd like to know a little more about you if you are interested. Influences/favorites artists, any exposure to Texas Country/Red Dirt Music, age, location, former/current bands, etc.

The band has been playing paying gigs steadily for the last year and a half and have a very good reputation. Typically 6-10 gigs monthly, mostly on weekends. Top clubs and more, including National Act opening spots. Some regional travel required. Band has a full PA, bus and trailer.

Backing vocals are a HUGE plus.

You should be: professional, a fast learner, and have your own gear. Age is not crucial, but we would lean towards people 21-39. Please no druggies, burnouts, jobbers or slackers. This is a business. We have a lot of fun and make some money.

We play mostly in the Owatanna/Waseca area right now. We would prefer someone to live close to us as this works better for practice.
We are currently looking for a lead singing bass player. Let me say that again, we are looking for a lead singing bass player. We need you to have a strong singing ability. We have one lead singer right now. We are looking for someone with the ability sing 20 to 25 songs a night and harmonize on the others when needed. Our singer has a medium to high range so we are looking for a medium to low range, however, we will listen to anybody who can truly sing well.
We also need you to be able to play the bass...well. We would prefer somebody who actually enjoys playing the bass more so than a guitar player who will play one to get a gig.
Almost all of the people who responded to our previous adds were able to sing OK but not play the bass or they could kind of play the bass but either couldn't or were afraid to sing. Not one person was able to do both.
We need someone who practices on their own time, not someone who plays only when we all get together.
Pro gear is a must. We all have it, so should you.
We like to have fun, but we take this seriously...so should you.
Demographic: us 45-50 but active. We like to have fun onstage, we hope you do too.

Polka Jam Session (Glencoe, MN)

There is a Polka group called the "Button Box America" of Glencoe, MN. Concertinas, piano accordion, drums, trumpet, guitar, violin and many others come to play on the 2nd Saturday of the month 1 - 5 pm. Sat. Oct. 11, 2008 at the Glencoe, MN Community Center, next to the Library. Email for upcoming schedule.

This time slot holds the meeting and a jam session.

The group is interested in playing in other areas of the metro to central Minnesota on a special or regular occasion event time slot.

Each musician gets a chance to play lead if wanted.

Polkafests are listed for free in newsletter. More than 200 newsletters go out every month around the country; about 50 - 75 musicians live in the central Minnesota to Twin Cities metro area (Brainerd to the Iowa border; Stillwater to Rochester area. Some meetings we have a great turnout of 20 musicians and other folks come along with each musician.)

I spent the last 2 years as the lead guitarist for a twin cities metal cover band. We covered bands such as Maiden, Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, etc.., the band broke up and I am currently looking to join another.

I'm willing to do covers or original material, be it metal or hard rock. I am willing to play lead and/or rhythym, I can also provide some backing vocals. I am able to rehearse a couple nights a week and I crave to play live.

I have been playing for 24 years, 15 of which have involved bands. I play quality gear: Jackson Soloist, Marshall amp. I have a steady career and can contribute toward band expenses.

I am moving to Minneapolis from Portland, and I am trying to figure out where all the talented/creative forward thinking musicians are there. I know there must be some. Either there are only 6 people in Mpls who don't play pop-punk or hardcore and all 6 of them happen to be in Cloud Cult already, or there is an underground group of baroque poppers looking to take the twin cities by storm but are greatly afraid their expensive handcrafted instruments will be thrown to the violence of idiot mosh pit kids.

Seriously.
I play drums. The sparkle, they are boss-def' yo'. Please be generally interested in or aware of these groups that I think are actually doing something more interesting then lamenting to powerchords:

Band Practice Space Available Immediately - 200$/mo (Inver Grove Heights/South of St. Paul)

I have 1 practice space available in a once modified garage used for an all ages music venue, and is now modified to be used as 2 separate practice spaces for bands.

If you have ever heard of, or once attended a show at the old Toybox music venue when it was located in IGH, this is the same place. It's NOT the building that most recent Toybox was housed in in Minneapolis.

The room I have is pretty spacious actually. Rough dimensions are around 15x20 at least. I'm really just putting this up to see if anyone is even interested in renting a space out here. It's about 10 minutes south of downtown St. Paul off Hwy 52 and Concord Blvd in Inver Grove Heights, 55076.

If you are a band or whatever and are actually interested, send me an email and I can give you much more detailed info on the actual dimensions and availability and can even setup a quick viewing of the space and surroundings and such.

There's a secure door to get into a lobby type area, and then both rooms have their own respective locks to each practice space with dead bolts and their own keys. I also have high speed wireless internet that you can connect up to out there and can use at your leisure.
