3five, a progressive web design/development and print design shop based in Duluth is seeking another highly creative Web Designer (with print chops) for our small team in Minneapolis. We service local clients but are now focusing on clients in the metro as well as nationwide.
Please note: If you're looking to work for a big agency with a fancy office, ping pong table, razor scooters and an in-house sushi bar this isn't it. We value good work and craft-- not pomp. Basically the work is our focus and should be yours. It's what makes us happy.
This position reports to the Project Manager as well as the CEO and COO.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with client, developer and project manager to produce modern layouts that adhere to best practices in UX and Web standards
- Create visual concepts that communicate key ideas, product features and promotions
- Design attractive graphics and type for web pages, email campaigns & print material (business cards, flyers, brochures, etc.)
- Assist in redesigning portions of existing web pages to improve functionality and usability
- Assist on other projects as needed
Requirements:
- Must have live Web portfolio
- Serious Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator skills
- Remedial knowledge of HTML & CSS
- An understanding of how developers can use jQuery, Ajax and other scripts to push the boundaries of UX (we do not use Flash)
- Basic SEO knowledge is a plus as it also should inform your nav structure and overall design approach
- Ability to work well with front-end developers and programmers who will implement your design.
- Ability to produce and stay on task without being micro managed
- Ability to translate site maps and other docs delivered by the project manager into designs that satisfy the client's needs and goals
